Our Story

Burnley Vineyards is one of the oldest Vineyards in the Monticello Viticultural Area.  We have 31 acres of vineyards - Chardonnay, Cabernet Sauvignon, Orange Muscat, Muscat Blanc, Chambourcin, Vidal and Norton.  Burnley Vineyards is a family operation.  C.J. Reeder is General Manager, Lee Reeder is the winemaker, Patt Reeder handles Sales and Dawn Reeder tasting and tours.

We started planting in the spring of 1977.

The first grapes were harvested in 1980.

From 1980 throught 1983, all of our grapes were sold to other Virginia Wineries.

In 1984. we started our own Virginia Farm Winery.

We have been adding to our vineyards every year.

We currently have 31 acres of grapes.

We currently produce 5,000 cases and 95% of our wines we grow at the winery.

The Reeders have been deeply involved with the Virginia Vineyards Association, Virginia Wineries Association and the Governor's Wine Growers Advisory Board.
